l. Students residing in Clay County and/or attending Grades 1-12 in Clay County are eligible to enter the competition.  Student entries are grouped for judging as follows:  Grades 1-3, 4-6, 7-9, brochures10-12.  Prizes are:  Best in Show--$50.00; Each group--1st Place--$25.00, 2nd Place --$15.00, 3rd Place --$10.00, and Honorable Mention Certificates (no cash award).  New this year:  Prize winning artworks will become the property of the Prairie Arts Festival and may be used in future publications, or other media.

2. New this year: The school with the most entries wins $100 to purchase art supplies for the coming year!

3. Each student artist may enter one or two pieces. An entry fee of $1.00 per piece must be paid when registering. Work previously entered will not be accepted.

4.  New this year: The artwork must be based on the theme:  West Point is… (a person, place, thing or idea that illustrates what West Point means to you). Winning pieces become the property of the Prairie Arts Festival and may be used in future publications, brochures, or other materials.

5.  Acrylic, oil, watercolor, pencil, pastels, pen & ink, collage, pottery, photography and sculpture are all acceptable media for entry.  Size should not exceed 16” X 20”.

6. Artwork must be matted or mounted (attached to mat board or poster board). All entries should be unframed except for paintings on canvas, but absolutely no glass will be admitted.

7.  DO NOT write your identification information on the front of the piece or its mat.  Identification forms will be provided at the time of registration by the WP/CC Arts Council representative.  The representative will assist the student in attaching the form correctly to the artwork.

8. All entries should be delivered to Bryan Public Library Wednesday, Sept. 1, or Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010, between the hours of 3:00 pm and 6:00 pm. NO art work will be accepted before these dates. Entries must be registered and accepted by the West Point--Clay County Arts Council Representative.  The Library Staff will not accept or register entries.
 
9. Judging will be done by an out-of-town judge on Friday. Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony Saturday, September 4, 2010, at l:00 pm at Bryan Public Library. It is recommended that each student artist be present to received prize checks and for publicity photos.
 
10. Winners not attending the awards ceremony will be notified and checks must be cashed by September 30, 2010, per request of the Prairie Arts Festival Committee.

11. It is requested that each entry remain on display thru September 30, 2010, at the Bryan Public Library. Artworks can be picked up after that date.

12. The West Point--Clay County Arts Council reserves the right to reject any entry that is deemed inappropriate due to subject content.

THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS TO THE ABOVE RULES.
